From: Edinburgh
Local spot: Belhaven Bay, Dunbar
Favorite wave: Portobello Beach on the one day we had clean, head-high waves there! Mainly due to the pizza on the prom straight after the surf!
My contribution to Scottish Surfing:
I am the coordinator of the Wave Project in St Andrews. We are a surf therapy charity that uses surfing and community to improve the mental health of young people. For the past three years, we have been accepting referrals from across Fife ad Tayside, and welcoming young people facing varying challenges in their lives down to the West Sands to get in the sea and learn to surf. We have an incredible team of volunteers, who have facilitated a truly life-changing intervention for many young people.
Working closely with my colleagues Alison and Davide in Dunbar, we actively trying to tackle the mental health crisis by harnessing the power of the ocean and our beautiful coastline.
I also run a small Scottish surf-based clothing brand with my brother called SLAB. We make high-quality, responsibly sourced clothing inspired by everything we love about surfing in Scotland. We try to tell the stories of average Scottish surfers and hope to create a brand that people are stoked to wear.
