My contribution to Scottish Surfing:

Since 2019 I have been exploring the coastlines of Scotland with my camera. What struck me when I first discovered the wave potential around Scotland was the brutality of it. The sheer luck, planning, and knowledge required to score a good session is like nowhere else I’ve ever been.

I spend time at the moment between the Indonesian Mentawai Islands, and my home, Scotland. No matter how good it gets in Indo, home is always calling me.

Scotland’s coastline, all 6100 miles of it, is a vast barren place. Hammered by bad-tempered storms, weather squalls, snow, and very infrequent sunshine. It quickly became my favorite subject. Travelling the coast, capturing the moments it shines, and the moments it just displays raw power. It has had a dramatic effect on my style, both shooting and editing.

I was first asked to shoot the British Champs in 2020. The first time the British nationals ventured up to Scotland in 20+ years. I have led the media team for every Scottish national competition since. The decision to host the British in Scotland 4 years ago, launched our north coast back into the spotlight for surfers all over the country. Being able to provide the video and photos for these events is a huge privilege. To showcase what our country and our surfers are capable of is a task that I revel in.
