Last Saturday 30th of November the Scottish Surfing community came together once again, like every year, to celebrate the traditional Gathering of the Clans championship, organised by Scottish Surfing, but this time at a very unique surf spot.

 Lost Shore Surf Resort was the host and did not disappoint us with perfect waves guaranteed in all heats throughout the event regardless of where the wind was coming from or the change of tides. 

The public  enjoyed the action from a very close vantage point to the competitors, there was live music and energy drinks courtesy of Red Bull, excellent food and hot drinks from Canteen, an incredible and very warm view from inside Spear Sauna and Michelle Denham Spa making sure the athletes had the option to relax their muscles between their heats. The Surfskate Academy and the surf shop were always on hand for any last minute accessories needed. 

On top of all this, the event was broadcast live on YouTube with Campbell commentating each move and reporting the scores of the surfers.

The championship was held with a different format to those we are used to. 

Surfers could only take 4 waves per heat and 6 waves in the final heats. There were lots of heats to get through and just a few hours of daylight. It was the first time this format was implemented which meant a new challenge for Scottish Surfing and its judges but everything went perfectly!
The level of Scottish surfing has not stopped growing in recent years and the new generations promise great achievements for the short and medium-term future and this became very clear last Saturday.

The quality of the waves at Lost Shore undoubtedly helped the surfers express their talent to the fullest.

 It was a spectacle worth witnessing.

 We can’t wait for next year!
